AstroChart
From natural languaje to a working digital product.
An experimental web application capable of generating and exporting astrological charts, designed and developed through AI-assisted conversation rather than traditional wireframes or manual coding.

The Experiment
What if the prompt became the design tool?
The academic brief was deliberately open: create a useful or engaging digital experience using AI for its ideation and development.
Instead of producing a static landing page, I wanted to test whether natural language could take a product from concept to a complete functional flow.
The result became AstroChart: enter your birth data, generate a chart, understand the result and export it.

The Constrains
Build more with less control.
Those restrictions changed the way the product had to be designed.
Geographic, astronomical and astrological information that would normally come from external services had to be incorporated manually into the system.
Every design or functional change also had to be communicated through language and evaluated in the generated result.
NO EXTERNAL APIs
NO PUBLIC DATABASES
NO MANUAL WIREFRAMES

AI AS THE PRIMARY DESIGN
& DEVELOPMENT MEDIUM
ITERATION AS DESIGN
The first prompt was nowhere near the product.
The interface and functionality emerged through repeated cycles of prompting, testing, rejection and refinement.
I used ChatGPT to structure the product and define its behavior, then iterated the interface and functional logic in v0 until the experience became usable.

MAKING IT FUNCTIONAL
AI could generate. I still had to decide when it was right.
Generating an interface was only part of the work.
Results were repeatedly tested and refined when responses became vague, calculations felt inconsistent or the main chart lost visual coherence.
The final prototype supported a complete flow from personal data input to generated result and PDF export.

LIMITATION: Geographic coverage remained intentionally limited because locations had to be incorporated manually without external APIs.

Results
From a conversation to a published product.
AstroChart became a functional, responsive and publicly accessible web prototype rather than a visual concept.
The project demonstrated how AI can allow a designer to move further into functional prototyping, while also making clear how much judgement, specification and validation still sits behind the result.
A GOOD PROMPT IS CLOSER TO A PRODUCT SPECIFICATION THAN TO A CREATIVE COMMAND.
HAVE A DIGITAL IDEA BUT DON'T KNOW IF IT DESERVES FULL DEVELOPMENT YET?
Let's turn it into a functional prototype first.
